CLAIRE HASTINGS

Folksinger, songwriter and ukulele player Claire Hastings has made a name for herself on the folk scene since winning BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2015.

Originally from Dumfries and Galloway, Claire has toured extensively both as a solo artist and with her band, with standout performances including BBC’s Friday Night is Music Night alongside Lulu and Jamie Cullum, on BBC’s Hogmanay 2021 performing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and as a soloist with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Randers Chamber Orchestra and Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, as well as numerous folk festival appearances.

Her music has also featured on BBC Radio 2's Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe.

LUSSA

Inspired by the Latin word meaning “light”, Lussa is an upcoming folk band based in Glasgow. They create fresh, spirited arrangements of both original and traditional tunes. Their unique sound and style has evolved from the varied musical backgrounds of its members, bringing a taste of tradition from Scotland and further afield. After their outstanding debut at Celtic Connections 2024 in the Danny Kyle Open Stage, Lussa returned in 2025 as finalists of the HandsUpforTrad: Battle of the Folk Bands competition. Alongside Scots singer Rose Byers, Lussa performed at The Vaults Arts Centre in Newton Stewart, including an opening slot for Aaron Jones and Rachel Walker earlier in the year. Lussa performed at Doonfest festival, and also featured as an opening act forThorpe & Morrison on the Scottish leg of their UK tour. In collaboration with the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, Lussa performed to a sold out audience in Ayr Town Hall in December 2024. After a hugely successful first year, Lussa will be recording and releasing new music in 2025, as well as featuring in a variety of international festivals.
